Our client is a Silicon Valley based company, with software platform engineering and deep domain expertise in travel, retail, insurance, and high technology. The Objective

Our client was running Oracle E-Business Suite in a hosted data center with single tenant infrastructure. At the end of their hosting contract, they wanted to offload hardware maintenance to a vendor and enhance their business continuity. They also wanted to ensure profitability from continuous technology innovations provided by Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, which proves better than on-premises infrastructure.

The Objective

  • Applied missing patches for RDBMS, Fusion Middleware, and Applications tier
  • Installed and configured Oracle EBS Cloud Backup module on-premises
  • Created Oracle Cloud Infrastructure resources to manage ownership and separation of duties
  • Created Virtual Network Setup for Deploying Oracle E-Business Suite Cloud Manager
  • Setup VPN to access services through multiple tunnels from different geographical locations
  • Backup source on-prem environment using EBS Cloud Backup module
  • Changed the account credentials within Oracle EBS
  • Configured and validated Workflow mailer and Discoverer services
  • Whitelisted new server IPs for all the tunnels
  • Ensured connectivity from all the configured tunnels
  • Secured access to the environment through company intranet

The Outcome

Migration of environment from on-premise to Oracle Cloud migration brought with itself its own set of values and advantages. Few of the significant ones are listed below:
  • Oracle Cloud migration done, and highly available and secured architecture deployed in private subnets, as per client’s requirements.
  • Oracle Cloud migration services helped the client to reduce both operating expense and capital expense by acquiring resources only when required and paying only for the same.
  • Since Oracle cloud migration provides highly secure data storage at a fraction of the price, it was earlier costing them to store the data on premise. It provided flexibility to expand and shrink storage based on their usage.

  • Usually, establishing a disaster recovery system require setting it up for an entire data center. OCI reduced the client’s effort in complex disaster recovery planning and provided easier approach to provision DRS with less effort, minimal time and better control over resources.
